EdAdvance is one of Connecticut’s six Regional Educational Service Centers serving western Connecticut.  Our mission is to promote the success of school districts and their communities. Collaboratively with them, we provide educational and related services.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Administer EdAdvance’s accounts receivable cash receipts.
  • Process and record daily deposits and payments received - miscellaneous cash, invoice payments, credit card payments, and customer ACH transactions
  • Process external and internal (intra-company billing) invoices
  • Process journal entries and adjusting entries as required
  • Work with internal customers to research inquiries about receipts, billing invoices and program budgets related to Accounts Receivable, follow up with customers on outstanding payments, and work with Directors to collect payments over 120 days old
  • Maintain invoice control system and customer list
  • Create and maintain charge codes in Munis
  • Maintain & reconcile Adult Education checking refund account
  • Serve as back up for Accounts Payable
  • Reconcile the Aging Account Report to General Ledger Receivable Accounts
  • Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
The Accounts Receivable Specialist works under the supervision of the Director of Finance.High School diploma or equivalent education.

  • Two to five years of proven bookkeeping and accounting experience
  • Excellent math skills and attention to detail
  • Capability of working in a team environment
  • Professionalism and confidentiality, integrity, honesty in addition to quality.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
  • Must be computer literate with the ability to use computerized accounting software, Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Requires ability to organize data and produce reports as needed by funding source and as requested by agency staff.
  • Requires judgment when managing agency funds.
  • Timely and accurate posting of cash receipts, miscellaneous cash entries, internal and external billing are essential functions of this position.
