Job Description:
Title: Long Term Special Education Teacher Montowee
Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Student Services
Supervises: N/A
Work year: Start date is Janurary 2023
Salary: TBA
Will provide specialized instruction to students in the special education classroom and general education
Qualifications /Experience
*Degree in special education and State of Connecticut special education certification (165)
* Working knowledge of the co-teaching and consultative models
*Partner with classroom teachers in a co-teaching and/or consultative role – including lesson development,
delivery of differentiated instruction, and analysis of student performance data and SRBI
*Ability to provide direct academic instruction in a resource room model; deliver specialized instruction
*Experience conducting Functional Behavioral Analysis and writing behavioral support plans, analyzing
behavioral data
*Ability to initiate productive communication to address student concerns with administration, team
members, and parents.
*Develop a daily/weekly schedule of instructional and non-instructional activities for each paraprofessional
that supports students on your caseload always with the intent to build students’ independence.
*Comprehensive knowledge of the Planning and Placement Team process and legal and related
*Conduct appropriate evaluations and assist other teams in understanding the special education eligibility
process for students with or suspected of having a disability, including the use of state guidelines.
*Demonstrate teacher-leadership qualities to bring initiative and innovation to the special education
department in the above areas.
