Job title: Tier 1 Technician
Location: District Technology Office
Reports to: Director of Technology
Closing Date: Open until filled
Job Goal: Work closely with point contacts throughout the district to coordinate a large volume of student and teacher laptop computers, classroom interactive technology, and VoIP maintenance and repairs. Coordinate and collaborate on tasks with other team members to ensure work is resolved on a timely, efficient, and reliable basis.
General support
  • Routinely monitor ticket system for relevant issues
  • Maintain working relationships with outside vendors for the purposes of equipment returns and maintenance
  • Maintain discretion on confidential matters
  • Flexibility throughout the year to adjust working hours as business needs
  • Provide basic training on the care and operation of District hardware and software
  • Attend various events such as. meetings, conferences, training sessions, and Board of Education meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Recommend annual preventive maintenance and develop a plan to implement this work
  • Provide input as needed for technology planning and departmental development
  • Effectively communicate and document routine tasks
Perform routine installations, of end user devices and classroom technology
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair district computer systems. Recommend and/or install hardware and software
  • Install and maintain computer peripherals such as SmartBoards, document cameras, and other miscellaneous devices
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems with District adopted technologies
  • Maintain a district database of hardware
  • Transport a variety of items (e.g. laptops, printers, etc.) for the purpose of providing equipment for repair or deployment
  • Oversee the creation, testing, and deployment of imaging solutions
 Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  • Associates Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience as deemed appropriate by the Director of Technology
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network +, MCP are desirable
  • Basic knowledge of IP network, including DNS and DHCP services
  • In depth knowledge of Windows operating systems
  • In depth knowledge of Google gSuite and Chrome operating systems
  • Understand data privacy regulations and be able to effectively communicate requirements to end users
  • Must be organized and self-directed
  • Must have excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is a must
  • Possess a valid CT driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly
Other: The above description covers the principle duties and responsibilities of the job and should not be considered all inclusive. This is a twelve-month position. Travel between schools and the technology office will be necessary on a regular basis.
