Job Description:
Region 16 is looking for a part time and full time Special Education Paraprofessional
Candidates Must Have:
Two years of college (Associate's Degree), or 60 college credits, or have passed the Para Praxis Test
Preferred Experience:
• Assists the teacher and/or independently instructs students within small assigned groups or individually, making appropriate adaptations and modifications in academic, social, vocational, and survival skills.
• Works with students to maintain appropriate behavior in classroom settings using behavioral modification techniques.
• Assists with student discipline using positive "time out" approach, when appropriate.
• Performs various clerical duties associated with classroom and mainstream, including support of PT, OT, and PE specials.
• Assists the teacher with informal student assessment, prepares IEP report cards, activity record, charting and Discrete Trial Program in a special setting.
• May monitor class for a short period of time in the absence of the teacher.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
