Job Description:
Position Available: SY 2019-2020

1.   Evidence of successful coaching and/or athletic administrative experience; current coaching permit
2.   Knowledge of the overall operation of athletic program K-12
3.   Knowledge of supervising, and coordinating teaching and learning within specific academic areas
4.   CMAA certificate from NIAAA required
5.   Connecticut Certification in Intermediate Administration or Supervision (092) preferred

Job Goal: To provide each student with an opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills, personal growth, a sense of worth and confidence, and a knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of sport and the principles of fair play.

Reports To: Middle School Principal/High School Principal/Superintendent

Supervises: All personnel assigned to and associated with the athletic program.

Work Year:  The employment year for the AD is two hundred  (200) days. If the Board requires the AD to work additional work days beyond two hundred (200), or an aggregate number of hours in excess of 200 multiplied by the normal teacher work hours, the AD will be compensated a per diem rate prorated based on 1/200 of his/her salary as set forth in Appendix A to the Agreement.  

Work Schedule:  It is recognized that, while the AD will work a flexible schedule that requires work on evenings and weekends to appropriately administer the athletic programs at Coginchaug High School, the AD’s overall time commitment on site or at athletic events will be consistent with the aggregate number of on-site work hours expected of teachers under the Agreement.  On or around the first day of the month, the AD will submit a proposed schedule to the Middle School and High School Principals for work to be performed on behalf of the Board during the upcoming month. The principals shall approve or modify the proposed schedule in his/her discretion, while ensuring that the schedule remains consistent with the number of working hours required of other certified personnel.  It is anticipated and agreed that the AD will spend time outside of the scheduled work week for the Board communicating with parents, coaches, athletes, referees and other staff members, preparing schedules for athletic contests, examining records and/or other preparatory and follow up activities inherent in the AD’s professional services. These hours are not included within the scheduled hours referenced in this paragraph, as the hours referred to include only those hours spent on-site or at activities on behalf of the Board.
