POSITION:                            Director of Pupil Personnel Services
High School

GENERAL DUTIES:           
The Director is responsible to the Superintendent of Schools for direction, coordination, evaluation and budgeting for the various special education and pupil personnel programs in New Fairfield.
  • Valid teaching certification in Comprehensive Special Education or related field, with minimum of three years’ successful teaching.
  • Certification as an Intermediate Supervisor and Administrator (092).
  • Master’s Degree in one or more of the fields of responsibility; Coursework or a degree (30 hours) in special education / student services.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws and judicial decisions relevant to special education / student services.
  • A commitment to and focus on teaching and learning to drive instruction and improve each student’s achievement in alignment with Connecticut Core Standards.
  • Broad experience in Special Education, including experience in supervising the work of others.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct the work of professionals, to produce budgets and reports.
  • Effective communicator and ability to comfortably speak in public.
  • A track record of contribution to a positive and inclusive culture.
  • Ability to share a clear vision of success.
  • A belief in engaging all stakeholders in decisions about students.
