Job Description:
System Analyst for Networking and Network Services

This position is responsible for provisioning, installing, configuring, operating, and maintaining IT hardware, software and related infrastructure including servers, switches, routers and firewalls.  This individual ensures that system and network hardware, operating systems, application servers and software, and related procedures adhere to organizational performance standards. This individual may serve as the support person for one or more EASTCONN-supported locations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure and maintain server and network hardware and software including routers, firewalls, switches, wireless networks, printers, and servers
  • Monitor and evaluate system performance, including on-line, network, and security issues, and make or recommend interventions to maintain and improve performance
  • Install and test application updates and software; maintain user systems
  • Install and maintain file, email and application servers
  • Perform data backups and provide for disaster recovery
  • Provide end-user support and issue resolution
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging server and network tools and technologies.
  • Research, evaluate and recommend technologies to support educational and business requirements
  • Create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures
  • Maintain specialty technology for academic programs
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum six years experience in information technology supporting servers and networking equipment
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Experience with Windows Server 2008-2012+
  • Experience with VMWare and Hyper-V
  • Experience with IP Routing/DNS/DHCP/HP and Cisco Switch and router configurations
  • Experience with MS Active Directory and/or Deployment services 
  • Wireless AP set-up, maintenance, and troubleshooting/controller configuration
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex IT issues independently
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle required for local travel
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cisco/Microsoft Certifications
  • Knowledge of education service center and school district procedures and services
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to successfully work with all personality types in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to analyze systems and make recommendations to improve performance, security and reliability
  • Familiarity with work-tracking and/or project management systems
