Elementary Principal

Center Elementary School (K-6)

The Ellington Board of Education invites interested candidates to apply for the position of Principal of Center Elementary School with a start date of July 1, 2019.

Demographics of School:

Center School is a K-6 school that serves over 400 students.  The school enjoys a warm and supportive community of students, parents, and staff working together as a team. The school has approximately 70 certified and non-certified staff.

Highlights of 2018-2019 School Improvement Plan:

Center School is committed to delivering high quality instruction for all students.  Center School monitors its progress using a variety of qualitative and quantitative measures including the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment, Bridges Math assessments, curriculum based assessments, performance on annual state testing and school climate data (including office referrals, student attendance, and other PBIS data). Center School provides interventions and resources to support all students with various abilities through SRBI, Applied Behavioral Analysis, as well as social emotional programming. Center School is also committed to integrating technology in an intentional and meaningful way to engage both parents and students, as evidenced by utilizing applications such as SEESaw Learning.

In order to build upon the strengths and work with stakeholders to address challenges, the next Principal of Center School will possess the following leadership attributes, skill sets, and experience:
  • Demonstrated commitment to proactive communication style with all stakeholder groups including school based PTO and other community organizations
  • Commitment to a visible leadership style throughout all aspects of a school day
  • Experience as a classroom teacher and administrator
  • Understands students’ individual needs must be supported based on their unique differences
  • Experience leading data driven instructional improvement efforts using a visible and collaborative approach
  • Experience modeling technology integration to better personalize learning experiences for students
