Job Description:
Candidate will be required to travel amongst each Adelbrook school, locations include Cromwell, Manchester, East Hartford, and Middletown. 

     Responsible for maintaining the budgeted census of the Day School at the Learning Center, including oversight of pre-placements, referrals, and communication with all interested parties. Using the Positive Behavior Support system, oversees management of student behavior, including resolution of disciplinary issues. Assists in the development of new or improved programs and curriculum, ensuring effectiveness in serving the needs of all students. Acts as the Director of Education’s designee. Assists the Director of Education in the supervision and performance evaluation of Learning Center staff and with other programs/projects, as requested. Reports directly to the Director of Education. This is a full time, exempt position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Reviews the appropriateness of day students for the education programs. Ensures correct educational programming and discharge planning for residential students.
* Monitors the arrival and dismissal of all day students to ensure the safety of all students.
* Serves as behavioral resource for the Learning Center; consults with staff to prepare Functional Behavior Assessments to develop Behavior Intervention Plans; determines appropriate action in cases of serious behavioral incidents.
* Participates in Positive Behavior Support, Administrative Team, Continuous Quality Improvement, interdepartmental, staff and other meetings as necessary.
* Serves as a resource for teachers, particularly on development and implementation of behavior management, crisis management and effective education programs.
* Is a resource to all Learning Center personnel regarding curriculum development.
* Assists the Director of Education in the ongoing development, administration and dissemination of information regarding all Learning Center programs, including professional development for staff.
* Represents The Learning Center at PPT’s. Ensures appropriate educational discharge planning for students and coordinates educational programming through the PPT process.
* Assists the Director of Education in the development of The Learning Center budget, as requested.
* Assists in the creation of forms and data collection instruments (SWIS) to record academic and behavioral performance.
* Supervises select Learning Center staff and completes required performance evaluations in a timely fashion.
* Works collaboratively with Residential/Clinical departments to ensure success of school programs. Serves as liaison between the school and interacting outside agencies, inclusive of public schools.
* Assumes teaching responsibilities in a classroom when appropriate staffing needs to be ensured.
* Attends all scheduled after school and evening Learning Center functions.
* Displays exemplary role modeling on the job.
* Assists the Director of Education with additional projects/programs, as requested.

Education, Experience and Other Qualifications:
     Master’s Degree. Minimum three years related experience, preferably in a residential treatment or psychiatric setting. Must possess Connecticut certification in School Administration and Supervision as well as Special Education (092) Excellent written and verbal skills. Skills in the following areas are highly desirable: curriculum development, administration, budget management, instructional leadership, group dynamics. Knowledge of effective behavior management systems, including Positive Behavior Support, and the ability to impart such knowledge to others.
     Must be self-assured and possess a track record that reflects sound judgment and a demonstrated ability to establish rapport with students, colleagues and staff from diverse ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds. Must be able to function as a part of a team and to demonstrate flexibility in meeting program needs as they occur. Pre-service training in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Risking Connections is required. Commitment to the CT Code of Professional Responsibility for School Administrators is requisite
