Respons include the following
  • School-based identification & screening of EL-eligible students, based on st & district guidelines school-based comm to parents of EL status (Initial/Continuing/Exiting);Development of school-based EL servicing schedule
  • Implementation of the district EL curr based on gr & proficiency level
  • Tier 1 & Tier 2 EL instruction
  • Selecting & sharing modification/accommodations for school-based EL students
  • Collection & analysis of school-based EL performance data (curriculum-based & st assessments)
  • Assessment of ELs through curr-based, benchmark & st proficiency testing
  • Reporting of curr-based & assessment performance to students, classrm/support teachers, parents & principal
  • Coaching of classrm teachers in the implementation of content-based Tier I classrm EL instructional strategies & development of EL awareness in school-based instructional stakeholders using current research, best practices & materials
  • Provides PD to teachers individually, gr level groups & collectively in faculty & staff mtgs
  • Attend school-based student consults, PPTs, & retention mtgs
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Asst Supt Curr & Instruction
  • Bachelor’s Degree;Current CT Teacher Cert.;111 TESOL, Grs PreK-12;Master’s Degree in TESOL preferred but not required
  • Ability to articulate specific knowledge of current theory, best practices & student advocacy
  • Strong collaborative & interpersonal skills to lead teachers, parents & members of the school community
  • Ability to bring research-based insight to curr dev in order to improve student achievement
  • Knowledge of best practice in instruction & assessment
  • Ability to integrate instructional technology resources into district curr
  • Ability to read, interpret & summarize assessment results including standardized tests (including LAS Links);
  • Ability to author routine reports, analysis & corresp
  • Ability to speak effectively & succinctly before admin, staff, parents & students
  • Ability to solve practical problems & deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to communally reinforce current instructional practices in & diffuse misconceptions surrounding ELs
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements & BOE policies
  • Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints
  • Prior exp teaching in ESOL, bilingual or dual lang programs(s) preferred
  • Multilingual prof a strength but not required
