Position:         District Food Service Coordinator
Location:        Har-Bur Middle School/Lewis S. Mills High School
Reports to:     Director of Nutrition Services
Schedule:        7.5 hours (6:30am – 2:00pm) per day/190 days per Year
Major Responsibilities:
        Candidate is willing to be part of a team that provides a quality food service program.  This person provides operational leadership and direction to food services staff in all schools. This person will assist in planning and organizing operations; assist in the preparation, service and clean-up of student meals, adult meals, and a la carte items; assist in the ordering, receiving, accounting for and distribution of school lunch program; train, instruct, and assist employees assigned to all schools in order to develop the morale of the organization and efficiency of the workers functioning as a team; maintain accurate records required by the District in an orderly manner such as inventories, orders for food and supplies, recording counts and completing production records, financial records, and any additional records that may be required, from time to time, by the District; maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness during food preparation and service, in use and operation of equipment and among personnel, and in compliance with ServSafe standards and; assist in closing of school cafeterias for the holiday, vacation and emergency closure periods. This individual will be the contact person for all schools regarding the day to day operations of the district cafeteria’s.
  1. Working knowledge of District Food Service Coordinator responsibilities as described in District Food Service Coordinator Job Description
  2. Successful completion of a probationary work period.
  3. At least two years’ experience in a food service management position supervising food service staff.
  4. At least two years’ of experience in quantity food production or related commercial food service venue or a combination of both is desirable.
  5. Demonstrate proficiency using a Point of Sale system (ie, Horizons One Source), Excel and Microsoft Word
  6. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with school staff, food service director, employees and parents.
  7. Demonstrate the ability to deal effectively, fairly, courteously and professionally with food service department personnel and school personnel.
  8. Demonstrate a general knowledge of safe food handling principles, kitchen sanitation, and safety, personal hygiene, food service equipment and quantity food preparation in compliance with ServSafe standards.
  9. Demonstrate an ability to organize, manage time, and follow-through under the pressures of a food service operation servicing students grades K-12.
•     Associates Degree in related field preferable.
•      Current ServSafe certification mandatory.
Finger printing is a requirement.
