Starting July 1, 2017 (12-month position; 223 work days)
Salary: As per collective bargaining agreement (range: $117,085 - $142,289)

Wethersfield’s Highcrest Elementary School is seeking a motivated and dedicated leader to serve as building Principal.  This position is vital to our school as the incumbent has regular and constant interaction with our staff, students, parents/families, community, and administrative team.  Applications will be accepted through January 24, 2017 from qualified candi­dates.
 
The Highcrest Principal will partner closely with the district administrative team and school-based leaders to prepare every student for scholastic success, and will serve as the primary building/school champion for implementing school and district vision of learning.  In this role, our Principal will:
- Guide and implement a community-wide vision of learning through the implementation of School Improvement Plans;
- Drive student success by monitoring and continuously improving teaching/learning within the building, ensuring alignment with district, state and national standards of excellence;
- Recruit, select, supervise and evaluate all certified and non-certified staff members, ensuring a highly effective learning environment is at the core of all staffing activities and decisions;
- Ensure equitable access to resources is available to all students/families, and collaborate with families and the community to respond to diverse community interests and needs;
- Create and sustain a school culture committed to strong values, beliefs and practices that are aligned with Wethersfield’s mission and vision;
- Provide leadership and oversight of the school data teams to support instruction, assessment, professional development, and support programs;
- Continuously communicate and be available to parents, families and the community.
 
Qualifications:         
- Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills to lead staff, students, families and members of the school community;
- Demonstrated success in the development, evaluation and implementation of curriculum and instruction;
- Demonstrated success in the areas of team engagement, fostering improved school climate, enhancing student assessment;
- Demonstrated ability to use technology for data analysis and understand its application to student learning;
- Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience;  
- Minimum of two (2) years of prior administrator experience;
- Holds Connecticut Professional Educator Certification – Intermediate Administration & Supervision (092);
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Demonstrated experience in managing school improvement efforts and supervising staff;
- Demonstrated ability to handle and treat information confidentially;    
- Demonstrated ability to relate effectively with staff, parents, students and the public;
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work schedule and set priorities;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, with a sense of urgency, and with accuracy;
- Possesses a heart for respectfully challenging the status quo, advocating for change, and leading efforts for process improvement.
