Job Description:
POSITION:                            DIRECTOR OF FINANCE  
CERTIFICATION:                School Business Administrator (085)
SALARY RANGE:               $105,000 - $115,000 depending on background and experience

 JOB GOAL:  The Director of Finance shall administer the business affairs of the District on such a manner as to provide the best possible educational services with the financial resources available.

 GENERAL STATEMENT: The Director of Finance will report directly to the Superintendent of Schools. The manager will be responsible for the operation, coordination, and implementation of transportation, inventory, state reporting, purchasing, and business programs within the District.
QUALIFICATIONS:     1. As set by the Connecticut State Department of Education Bureau of Certification
2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the local Board of Education might find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO:               Superintendent of Schools
1.   Supervise the financial affairs of the District, including all funds, accounting and reporting     procedures, and long-range planning;
2.   Assist the Superintendent of Schools in the preparation of the budget;
3.   Review and manage budget expenditures and income;
4.   Knowledge of Budget Sense financial software
5.   Administer personnel functions;
6.   Oversee and administer employee benefits;
7.   Administer the payroll and accounts payable programs;
8.   Prepare state forms relative to fiscal operations and capital projects;
9.   Administer commercial insurance matters;
10.   Oversee food services operations;
11.  Prepare bid specifications and proposals, and solicit cost estimates for capital projects;
12.  Maintain a current inventory of District assets;
13.  Serve as the District’s liaison with computer hardware and software vendors and provide computer training and assistance to staff and administration;
14.  Administer the operations and maintenance of the school plants;
15.  Assume such other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
