Job Description:
EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY
BEN BRONZ FOUNDATION, INC.
WEST HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Ben Bronz Foundation Board of Directors invites well-qualified candidates to apply for the position of Executive Director. Ben Bronz Foundation, Inc., a private, non-profit organization, is accepting applications for an Executive Director to provide leadership and administrative oversight for both the Ben Bronz Academy and the Learning Incentive. Located in West Hartford, the Ben Bronz Academy is a Connecticut state-approved full-day special education school for children in Grades 2-12 who struggle to learn. The Academy was founded in 1985 with the belief that every student deserves the chance to succeed. By utilizing specialized techniques, including mediated learning and instrumental enrichment, bright children who have learning disabilities are able to achieve academic success and strengthen their curiosity, perseverance, self-reliance, motivation, and focus.

The Learning Incentive, also located in West Hartford on the same campus, provides a variety of programs to help both children and adults break through the barriers that block the learning process. The learning skills and strategies offered include individualized education (ancillary to the school day), individualized tutoring, study skills, summer programming, and basic skill acquisition for adults.

Executive Director responsibilities include, but are not limited to development, management, and implementation of fiscal policy and the corporation budget, fundraising through grant writing, donor appeals, and capital campaigns; marketing, public relations and community outreach; and supervision of the Education Director, Special Programs (Leaning Incentive) Director, and other heads of programs.

A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a non-profit setting with demonstrated success in the above areas is required. A background in special education, as well as Connecticut Certification as an Intermediate Administrator (092) or eligibility to obtain, is strongly preferred. The Ben Bronz Foundation, Inc. offers a regionally competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, to be determined by the background and experience of the successful candidate.

Important dates:
• Screening of applications will begin February 3, 2017.
• Selection of the Executive Director is anticipated to be completed by the end of March 2017.
• Starting date for the position will be on or around July 1, 2017.

To be considered for this position, candidates must submit: a completed application form; a cover letter with a brief description of how your qualifications and experiences align with the requirements of being the Executive Director of a private nonprofit educationally based organization; a current résumé; a minimum of three, but no more than five, recent letters of reference; verification of licensing status in Connecticut; and college/university placement papers and academic transcripts indicating degrees.
