Job Goal: Under the supervision of the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Technology, provide expert-level hardware, software, and networking support to ensure a high-functioning, consistent, cyber-secure online and computer-based infrastructure for Portland Public Schools
Essential Responsibilities - Under the Direction and Supervision of the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology and in close collaboration with other IT staff:
Job Goal: Under the supervision of the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Technology, provide expert-level hardware, software, and networking support to ensure a high-functioning, consistent, cyber-secure online and computer-based infrastructure for Portland Public Schools
Essential Responsibilities - Under the Direction and Supervision of the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology and in close collaboration with other IT staff:
- Manage all hardwares, configurations, and related aspects of the district’s network infrastructure.
- Manage and keep current district inventory (including age/end-of-life expectancy) for all district hardware and devices.
- Work with the Director to develop and maintain a hardware and device replenishment cycle within district budget capacity.
- Diagnose and lead the resolution of any issues related to infrastructure, servers, and local and wide area networks.
- Execute server hardware and software installation, configuration, upgrades, backups, and migrations as needed.
- Perform network administration tasks at the district and school levels.
- Monitor district’s cybersecurity across all systems and configurations and at all end-user levels’ provide related training as necessary.
- Develop and implement response plans when cybersecurity threats surface and/or when cybersecurity is breached.
- Manage all network security systems for LAN/WAN, telecommunications, and voice systems.
- Maintain and modify, as needed, all security for the networks and computer workstations.
- Manage security systems to ensure that all applications are functional and secure; ensure adherence to data privacy laws.
- Develop and maintain relationships with expert-level consultants to assist with any and all needs beyond local capacity and/or expertise.
- Serve as lead technician and/or consultant contact for any issues related to district phone systems, copy machines, and digital signage.
- Provide support for instructional and administrative technology and resolve any interruptive issues that arise for end-users.
- Provide field specific knowledge in the planning, implementation, and functional use of technology.
- Co-manage budget procedures and allocations to obtain quotes and to make strategic, appropriate, and necessary purchases.
- Associates Degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technology field
- Minimum of three years hands-on, troubleshooting experience supporting workstations PCs, laptops, peripherals and application software in a networked environment (preferably in an educational setting)
- Expert-level knowledge of network configurations, hardwares, and all aspects of infrastructure.
- Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity and data privacy practices, protocols, threats, safeguards, and legal requirements
- Experience working with local-area networks, PC based applications, recent generations of Windows, Google OS, Mac OS, Microsoft Office Suite, iOS, Android, and various social media platforms in a school environment.
- Experience with Chromebook Device Management and Google OS.
- Experience working with SMARTBoards, Desktops, Projectors, and other classroom-based instructional hardwares.
- Experience implementing and administering Microsoft Windows 2xxx, Microsoft Server 2xxx, Active directory, Office 2000/XP, anti-virus software and spam blocking software
- Experience maintaining Internet connectivity, Cisco Routers and Cisco firewall.
- Working knowledge of network terminology and infrastructure such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, IIS and BGP/EIGRP
- Minimum A+ and MCSE certifications
- Skilled in precise, organized, and accurate device inventory practice.
