Position Title:                       8th Grade Science - Long Term Sub 
Starting Date:                       August 24 - December 22, 2026 (approximate dates)
Salary Range:                      Per teacher contract
Responsibilities:                  The teacher will provide science instruction to students as a member of a six person team and will perform other classroom teaching duty assignments consistent with the requirements of the position.

Qualifications:                      The ideal candidate will have:

• Current Science Connecticut Certification (7-12, 4-8, or K-8). Interest in working in a high-performing district in a middle school environment and commitment to promoting a positive culture;
• Ability to work with others in attaining team objectives and accomplishing interdisciplinary objectives for students, including technology integration;
• Evidence of thorough understanding of unique needs of adolescents and how their characteristics impact curriculum and instruction;
• Evidence of expertise in working with children in a heterogeneous classroom setting and ability to differentiate instruction;
• Familiarity of and/or experience in teaching science and                 
  understanding of best practices in science;
• Familiarity and/or experience in utilizing small group instruction to support a wide-range of learners; 
• Effective classroom management skills that promote a positive learning environment;
• Willingness to participate in collaborative lesson planning; and
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
