GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Provides effective, standards-based music instruction, both general/vocal (grades K–5) and instrumental (band, grades 4 and 5), to elementary school students. Demonstrates a growth mindset and a commitment to high-quality, meaningful music education through the development of the artistic processes of creating, performing, and responding. Supports the development of music literacy and musical skills in all learners. Serves as a collaborative team member who demonstrates professional competence, a commitment to ongoing learning and growth, and a willingness to contribute beyond assigned responsibilities in support of students and the school community.

Proper Connecticut teaching certification required. Academic preparation with emphasis on elementary education; ability to modify the curriculum to meet the needs of all learners. Must be a flexible collaborator with an understanding of children's developmental stages.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full-time (10 month) teaching assignment to begin at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. Salary and benefits in accordance with the negotiated agreement between the Berlin Board of Education and the Berlin Education Association, BA Step 1 $54,797.00 - Ph.D. Max $114,617.00.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adheres to rules, regulations and by-laws of the Board of Education;
- Complies promptly with all administrative directives issued by the superintendent of schools or any administrative subordinate within the scope of their authority;
- Maintains a strong working knowledge and application of the philosophy, courses of study, techniques and objectives applicable to the area of specialization and assignment;
- Directs and evaluates the learning experiences of the pupil;
- Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to good instruction;
- Ensures parents are accurately informed of student growth and development;
- Participates in the in-service education programs and professional growth activities, including faculty committee and system-wide committee assignments;
- Participates in assignments and activities to promote better school-community relations (parent conferences, activities, etc.);
- Performs other specific duties as assigned by the building administrator, such as lunchroom, homeroom, outside areas, halls, clerical, club and social activities.
