OVERVIEW
St. James Catholic School in Stratford is seeking a full-time Theatre and Public Speaking Teacher (3rd-8th grade) starting in the 2026-27 school year. Candidates must have a love for working with children 3rd-8th grade, is kind, caring, and patient. They also must be excited about theatre while also valuing and being able to teach effective public speaking. We are looking for educators who want to work in a positive environment with dedicated colleagues who keep the interests of children at the center of what they do.

- Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing lessons designed to implement stated goals and objectives
- Promotes a learning environment that is safe and highly engaging
- Demonstrates competence in the art of teaching
- Able to communicate, relate, and connect effectively with students
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learning of current developments in the educational field
- Communicate effectively with parents
- Demonstrates competency in using technology in the classroom and/or a willingness to learn (e.g. using Google Classroom to post assignments)
- Active in developing one’s personal faith
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in Education or a related discipline to teaching assignment
- Experience teaching drama (and public speaking)
- Teaching Certification in appropriate grade level and/or subject
- Loves teaching and working with middle school students!
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Practicing Catholic, in good standing
- Master’s Degree
- Demonstrated experience teaching in a Catholic School
- Successful prior teaching experience in upper elementary and middle school
