The successful candidate will possess strong content knowledge in mathematics and a proven ability to engage middle school learners in rigorous, standards-based instruction.

Job Description
St. Mary Catholic School, Bethel is seeking a highly effective, experienced, and student-centered Middle School Math Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The successful candidate will possess strong content knowledge in mathematics and a proven ability to engage middle school learners in rigorous, standards-based instruction.
The teacher will be responsible for creating a structured and supportive classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, while also supporting the mission of Catholic education.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality mathematics instruction for students in Grades 6–8 (courses may include Math 6, Math 7, Pre-Algebra, and/or Algebra I)
- Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction
- Maintain a positive, well-managed classroom environment conducive to learning
- Integrate technology and real-world applications into math instruction
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Collaborate with faculty and administration in support of student achievement
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives
- Support the Catholic identity of the school through participation in liturgies, prayer, and service activities
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Practicing Roman Catholic, in good standing
- Valid Connecticut teaching certification (or eligibility) in Mathematics or Middle School Education
- Minimum of 2–5 years of successful middle school math teaching experience strongly preferred
- Strong background in middle school math curriculum and best instructional practices
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and use data to drive student achievement
- Effective classroom management skills
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with educational technology
