Middle School English Teacher
2026-2027 Academic Year
St. James Catholic School, Stratford
OVERVIEW
St. James School in Stratford is seeking a Middle School English Teacher (6th-8th grade) starting in the 2026-27 school year. Candidates must have a love for working with children 12-14 years old; is kind, caring, and patient; and excited about teaching English. We are looking for educators who want to work in a positive environment with dedicated colleagues who keep the interest of child at the center of what they do.
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing lessons designed to implement stated goals and objectives
• Promotes a learning environment that is safe and highly engaging
• Demonstrates competence in the art of teaching
• Able to communicate, relate, and connect effectively with students
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learning of current developments in the educational field
• Communicate effectively with parents
• Demonstrates competency in using technology in the classroom and/or a willingness to learn (e.g. using google classroom to post assignments)
• Active in developing one’s personal faith
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in Education or a related discipline to teaching assignment
• Experience teaching English, Writing, and/or History to students in grades 4th through 9th grades
• Teaching Certification in appropriate grade level and/or subject
• Loves teaching and working with middle school students!
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Practicing Catholic, in good standing
• Master’s Degree
• Demonstrated experience teaching in a Catholic School
• Successful prior teaching experience in a 6th, 7th, or 8th grade school environment
