Location: Parish Hill Middle/High School – Chaplin, CT.
Description: Parish Hill Middle/High School, a small rural community school serving students in Grades 07 – 12 who reside in Chaplin, Hampton, and Scotland, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a close-knit, student-centered environment where collaboration, creativity, and individualized support are at the heart of everything we do. Responsibilities:
- Designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs
- Providing direct instruction, academic, and social-emotional support in both resource room and inclusive classroom settings
- Collaborating with general education teachers, support staff, and families to foster student growth and success
- Utilizing evidence-based instructional strategies to support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development
- Supporting transition planning for students and preparing for post-secondary opportunities
- Maintaining accurate records and compliance with all federal and state special education regulations
- Current Connecticut State Certification in Special Education (Comprehensive Special Education, Grades K - 12), or appropriate endorsement
- Strong understanding of special education law, IEP development, and instructional strategies for students with diverse needs
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and families in a small school setting
- Ability to case manage approximately 10 – 12 students with diverse needs
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive supportive, and respectful learning environment
