Position Overview:
East Shore Middle School in Milford, CT is seeking a passionate and highly skilled music educator to serve as the full-time Band and Orchestra Teacher at the middle school level. This position is ideal for a candidate with strong string pedagogy, instrumental conducting expertise, and a commitment to cultivating a thriving instrumental music program. The ideal candidate will bring a student-centered approach, build strong relationships, and be eager to engage, inspire, and grow young musicians.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach and lead both middle school band and orchestra ensembles, including sectional work, full ensemble rehearsals, and public performances.
  • Plan and implement a comprehensive instrumental music curriculum aligned with state and national standards.
  • Select and program developmentally appropriate, diverse, and engaging repertoire for both band and orchestra ensembles.
  • Provide instruction on a variety of instruments, with a focus on string techniques and ensemble development.
  • Conduct performances and prepare students for concerts, festivals, and other school and community events.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging classroom environment where students of all backgrounds feel valued and motivated.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with other music educators and staff to support interdisciplinary learning and vertical articulation across grade levels.
  • Lead recruitment and retention efforts to grow the instrumental music program
