Description:
Stratford Public Schools seeks a dynamic Technology/PLTW Teacher for Stratford High School to engage students in STEM-focused design thinking and project-based learning. This position focuses on delivering hands-on, real-world applications of engineering, architecture, and digital design through Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Curriculum and related courses.
Courses include, but not limited to:
- Civil Engineering & Architecture (Honors)
- Video Game Design 1 & 2 (Honors)
- Introduction to Engineering Design
- Study Hall Supervision
- Advanced Technology/STEM Projects
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality instruction in PLTW courses, including Engineering Design, Civil Engineering/Architecture, and Video Game Design.
- Supervise and facilitate Advanced STEM Projects, Study Hall periods and/or assigned classes.
- Design hands-on, authentic learning experiences aligned with 21st-century skills and college/career readiness.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, including activity-based, project-based, and problem-based learning.
- Integrate technology effectively to enhance learning, including the use of 3D printers, CAD software, and game design platforms.
- Assess student progress regularly, provide feedback, and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan curriculum, review student data, and ensure equitable learning opportunities.
- Participate in professional development, including required PLTW training for new modules.
- Maintain classroom organization, manage materials/equipment, and oversee safe use of lab spaces.
- Engage with the school community to extend learning opportunities beyond the classroom.
- Support school initiatives to foster an inclusive, welcoming learning environment.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by building and/or district administration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
- Appropriate CSDE Certification and Endorsement required (047-TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION, PRE-K THROUGH GRADE 12)
- Relevant teaching experience; high school experience preferred.
- Proficient in technology integration, including design software and engineering applications.
- Experience with the PLTW Curriculum preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate design thinking and project-based learning.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
