OVERVIEW
St. James School in Stratford, Connecticut is opening a 2nd Kindergarten classroom. We are seeking a Kindergarten Teacher starting in the 2025-26 school year. Candidates must have a love for working with the 5-6 year old child; is kind, caring and, patient; and excited about early childhood education. We are looking for educators who want to work in a positive environment that is rooted in Christ’s teachings of love and compassion.

- Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing lessons designed to implement stated goals and objectives
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning
- Demonstrates competence in teaching by having current knowledge of curriculum and subject matter
- Effectively manage children using research-based strategies and approaches that foster growth
- Connect and communicate effectively with children
- Organize a classroom learning environment and materials
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, professional development, reading professional educational publications, etc.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Active member of a faith community and is open to the importance of personal faith journey; strives to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in Education or a related discipline
- Valid State Teaching Certification in appropriate grade level and/or subject or in the process of attaining a Teaching Certificate
- Loves working with children!
- Successful prior teaching in Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, or 2nd Grade
- A Master’s Degree in Elementary Education or a related field
- Demonstrated experience teaching in a Catholic School
