Montessori Early Childhood Lead Teacher

St. James School is hiring a full time, Montessori Early Childhood Lead Teacher. Candidates must be positive, gentle, caring and love working with children ages 2 to 3 years of age. Creativity, organizational skills, and passion for Montessori education are paramount!

Located in the heart of Stratford's Historic District, St. James Catholic School is a fully accredited elementary and middle school with over 75 years of educating children. St. James is a warm and caring community with a mission that includes “nurturing the whole child”. Our school provides a rich, academic experience from preschool through eighth grade.

- Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing lessons designed for an Early Childhood (specifically ages 2-3 years old)
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe, caring, and nurturing
- Demonstrates competence in Montessori educational practices, techniques, and approaches
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learning of current developments in educational field
- Encourages parental involvement in child' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Active member of a faith community and is open to the importance of personal faith journey; strives to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example
- Bachelor’s Degree accredited college/university in Education or related discipline to teaching assignment
- AMS or AMI Early Childhood Credential or are working towards the credential
- Passion for working with children ages 2 to 3 years of age!
- Classroom experience teaching or assisting in a Montessori early childhood classroom
- In addition to a Montessori credential, having a valid state teaching certification in an appropriate grade level and/or subject
