Full-Time Special Education Teacher
Kolbe Cathedral Preparatory School – Bridgeport, CT
Overview:
Passionate & qualified Special Education Teacher needed for a full-time (40 hrs/wk, M-F 7:45 AM - 3:00 PM) role. Plan, organize, & implement personalized instruction for diverse learners. Supervise classroom staff, providing coaching & support. Integral member of the Student Support Referral Team (SSRT), offering neurodiversity expertise for accommodations & modifications. Conduct educational & cognitive assessments. Support an inclusive learning environment fostering academic, social-emotional, & spiritual growth. Seeking candidates with CT Comprehensive Special Education PreK-12 Certification (165), those pursuing a Special Education Master’s, or experienced individuals working with learning disabilities. Inspire, lead, & support student success!

Minimum Requirements:
- Valid CT Special Education Teacher Certification (or equivalent).
- Experience with students with learning disabilities.
- Knowledge of Reading, Writing, & Computation Intervention Strategies.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license.

- Instructional Leadership: Develop Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) aligned with student needs (informed by IEP/504s). Co-teach using differentiated, evidence-based strategies. Lead meaning-making through scaffolded/thematic instruction. Provide small group instruction (academic, executive functioning, life skills). Conduct Academic & Cognitive Assessments.
- Program Development: Collaborate on educational programs. Conduct formal/informal assessments for program development. Support master schedule development (co-taught classes, interventions).
- Student & Staff Supervision: Train & supervise classroom staff. Lead differentiated curriculum development (Math, Science, ELA, Social Studies – College Prep, Honors, AP). Identify & develop relevant professional development.
- Communication & Reporting: Maintain regular parent communication. Write quarterly progress reports. Participate in parent-teacher meetings & interdisciplinary teams. Participate in bi-weekly SSRT Meetings & PPTs for BPS referrals.
