Position: Short-Term Substitute Teacher in Middle School English Language Arts May 12, 2025 - June 13, 2025 (24 days)

Job Summary:
As a Middle School Classroom Teacher at Salisbury Central School, you will play a crucial role in shaping young minds and creating an inclusive classroom.  Successful candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of the CT Core Standards and the pedagogical and assessment practices supporting successful student attainment of expected learning outcomes. A strong knowledge of literacy and data collection in these areas is essential. Additionally, the candidate must be able to explain their understanding of tiered intervention strategies and their experience with an RTI process. The successful candidates must also be strong collaborators and be able to articulate their beliefs about how to contribute to a positive and energized middle school team. Finally, candidates must be willing to demonstrate flexibility and innovation. 

About Us:
Salisbury Central School is a PK-8 school in rural Northwest Connecticut, part of the Region One School District. Our class sizes are small, and we believe all students can learn at a very high achievement level.  Our current school enrollment is nearly 300 students. 

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree
  • CT Certification with grade 7-12 ELA preferred (015), not required 
  • Teaching experience preferred, not required
  • Completion of a thorough background check, including fingerprinting, in accordance with district policies and state regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.

Various Other Requirements:
  • Physical Stamina: Must be able to move around the classroom, stand for extended periods, lift 25 lbs., crouch, kneel, and assist students with various tasks.
  • Clear Communication: Need to effectively communicate with students, staff, and parents, both verbally and in writing.
  • Classroom Management: Ability to manage the classroom environment, maintain discipline, and ensure the safety and well-being of students.
  • Mental and Emotional Stability: Ability to remain calm under pressure and be capable of handling the challenges of a dynamic school environment.
