Required Certifications & Qualifications
Current State of Connecticut Teaching Certificate: Elementary #305; #013; #005; #002; Middle School #004; #006; #215; #229 or Special Education #165

Essential Performance Responsibilities
Watertown Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate General or Special Education Co-Teacher to work alongside a Special Education Teacher in a self-contained Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) classroom. This collaborative role is crucial in providing comprehensive support to students with diverse learning needs.
• Collaborate with the Special Education Teacher to plan and deliver engaging lessons
• Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
• Assist in implementing behavior management techniques and SEL strategies
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student goal-setting
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
• A bachelor's degree in Education or related field
• Valid teaching certification in General or Special Education
• Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and universal design for learning
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations
• Flexibility and adaptability in teaching approaches
• Enthusiasm for working with diverse learners
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities

Additional Duties
Perform all other duties that may be assigned by the Interim Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services, Interim Director of Curriculum and Instruction for General and Special Education and Building Administrator 
Terms of Employment
  • 186-188 Days (per contract)
  • Refer to Watertown Education Association Union Contract

Work Schedule
  • Monday - Friday, 7:30am-2:40pm
