Job Summary:
The Spanish Teacher is responsible for providing engaging and effective language instruction to students, developing their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in Spanish. This role includes designing and implementing curriculum, assessing student progress, and fostering an immersive language-learning environment. The teacher will integrate cultural studies to enhance students’ understanding of Spanish-speaking communities and collaborate with colleagues to support student success.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: in Spanish, Education, or a related field from an accredited institution (Master’s degree preferred).
- Certification: A valid Connecticut teaching certification with an endorsement in Foreign Language Instruction Elementary Level – endorsement #101.
- Experience: Experience teaching Spanish, language instruction, or world languages at the elementary or middle school level.
- Background Check: Complete a thorough background check, including fingerprinting, and follow district policies and state regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of language acquisition strategies, proficiency-based instruction, and cultural competence.
- Instructional Skills: Proficiency in differentiated instruction, student engagement strategies, classroom management, and technology integration in language learning.
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with colleagues, students, and families.
- Physical Stamina: Must be able to move around the classroom, stand for extended periods, lift 25 lbs., crouch, kneel, and assist students with various tasks.
- Clear Communication: Need to effectively communicate with students, staff, and parents, both verbally and in writing.
- Classroom Management: The ability to create a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that fosters social-emotional and academic growth.
- Mental and Emotional Stability: Ability to remain calm under pressure and be capable of handling the challenges of a dynamic school environment.
