Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES Instructional Planning, Teaching and Practice
• Plan, prepare and execute lesson plans; create lessons that support each student’s learning style and academic capabilities with careful attention to accommodation, differentiation, and modification.
• Provide clear IEP (or ILP—individualized learning plan) goals and objectives for each student; create written reports and report cards for each student.
• Teach content and skills in 1:1 and small group resource periods and/or teach small group classes to assigned students utilizing common core aligned curriculum and approved courses of study.
• Develop lessons designed to teach specific skills and provide students with opportunities to practice those skills. Align lessons to student IEP goals and objectives.
• Develop strategies for maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning and utilize effective teaching methods; employ a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to the maturity, interests, and needs of each student.
• Maintain up-to-date PowerSchool and Google Classrooms for each class to be updated at least weekly.
• Identify need for diagnostic testing, identify student capabilities and monitor student progress on a regular basis to ensure that goals are being met.
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and GEG policies, e.g.
o updating attendance, grades and assignments in PowerSchool
o updating student data sheets to chart IEP progress
o completing quarterly progress reports
o entering PLOPs, new goals and objectives, and qualitative data into CT-SEDS
o reporting student progress at PPTs
• Consult and collaborate with appropriate professional staff (i.e. teachers, life coaches, administration) regarding students' educational programs.
• Establish and maintain orderly classroom behavior and a positive, respectful and engaging learning environment.
• Attend and participate in faculty, committee, pre-PPT, and case conferencing meetings and professional development opportunities.
• Attend and present at student PPTs, as needed. Admissions o Review admissions paperwork for prospective students o Provide feedback to Chief Administrator, Educational Director, and admissions committee
