The Speech Language Pathologist participates on a multidisciplinary educational team to evaluate, identify and service those children who have demonstrated impact on their communication skills within the school environment.

The Speech Language Pathologist participates on a multidisciplinary educational team to evaluate, identify and service those children who have demonstrated impact on their communication skills within the school environment.
- Complies with all published and disseminated rules, regulations and policies of the Board of Education.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the Connecticut Common Core of Teaching, the Connecticut Common Core of Learning and the Connecticut Framework documents and their role in facilitating improved student learning.
- Complies with all published and disseminated rules, regulations and policies of the Federal and State Department of Education as they apply to special education.
- Serves on a multidisciplinary educational team as appropriate during the pre-referral process.
- Evaluates and/or assumes responsibility for the screening and/or assessment of children with communication difficulties.
- Interprets assessment results, which may result in implementation of a program.
- Collaborates with other professionals and/or parents to determine the impact of speech and language impairments on a child’s educational success.
- Develops and assists in the implementation of instructional and curricular modifications to accommodate children’s communication impairments.
- Conducts parent conferences.
- Shares knowledge about communication development of school-age students.
- Assists in reporting to State Department of Education on number of pupils being served in special education programs.
- Performs additional duties, where appropriate, which are assigned within the scope of employment and certification.
Required qualification: Certification as a School Speech/Language Pathologist
