Title: Permanent Building Substitute
School/Department: Green Acres Elementary School
Reports to: Building Principal
Work Year: School Year, 2024-2025
Salary: $110.00 per day (not benefit eligible)
Assignments:
Two Building Substitutes @ each elementary school
Three Building Substitutes @ NHMS
Three Building Substitutes @ NHHS
Summary:
Instruct students and facilitate their learning in the absence of the classroom teacher.
Education/Training Requirements:
Minimum of Associates Degree.
Teaching certification preferred but not required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and implement classroom teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives
Take attendance and document daily notes
Provide classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
Assign and explain homework assignments provided by the classroom teacher
Ensure that the classroom and student work is kept clean and orderly
Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment that is conducive to learning
Maintain established routines of the school and classroom procedures
Compile a report for the teacher when s/he returns
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Oversee students outside of the classroom including in the hallways, cafeteria, arrival and dismissal
Maintain reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility
Communicate effectively with parents when needed
Report any student injuries, illness, and serious discipline issues to school administration
Remains at school the entire school day (Elementary 8:10-3:20 MS and HS 7:10-2:20)
Maintains a professional appearance
Perform other duties as directed by school administration
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Good organizational skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with basic academic concepts
Ability to present information effectively and respond appropriately to questions and concerns from individuals
Physical Demands:
