The Lee H. Kellogg School seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Physcial Education (PE) teacher to join our dynamic team of professionals.  We are committed to providing a learning environment that embraces diversity, promotes equity, and fosters inclusion. Position:  0.5 FTE Physical Education teacher for students in grades K-8. 

Job Summary:
The PE Teacher will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering a comprehensive physical education curriculum that promotes physical activity, health, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This role requires fostering a positive and engaging environment where students of all abilities can participate, learn, and develop lifelong healthy habits. The ideal candidate will also collaborate with faculty to support student well-being and contribute to the overall school community.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree with CT Certification in Physical Education (044), Pre-K through Grade 12
  • Previous teaching experience with elementary/middle school-aged children is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, parents, and students
  • Evidence of organizational ability and willingness to pursue tasks to successful completion
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to demonstrate and participate in physical activities, including running, jumping, stretching, and other athletic movements.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or move around for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment (e.g., sports gear, gym equipment) weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, crouch, and kneel to engage with students during activities.
  • Adequate vision, hearing, and motor coordination to supervise students in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions during outdoor activities (heat, cold, rain, etc.).

Salary and Benefits:  Per education and experience described in the Canaan Education Association CBA.
