General Scope of Responsibilities:
The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining the classroom program in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Relationship within the Organization. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for coordinating the activities of staff members who work with students in the classroom. The Substitute Teacher is responsible to the Director of the school. There is (1) vacancy for this position at Connecticut River Academy/Middle Grades Program, Goodwin University Magnet School System.

Specific Responsibilities
- Maintain each student’s learning in a well-organized, positive classroom environment.
- Work cooperatively with staff, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Maintain professional attitudes and competence.
- Effectively manage student behavior.
- Follow guidelines with regard to record keeping, documentation, and reporting.
- Communicate matters pertaining to self, student, program and agency to the classroom teacher.
- Model appropriate social skills and behaviors.
- Direct and monitor instructional assistants and other persons assigned to the classroom.
- Be mindful of any problem or special information about individual students.
- Alert administrator to any problem, information, or situations, which may require further action.
- Be punctual in meeting daily time schedules.
- Perform other duties associated with the substitute teaching position.
- Train new users in the region in student data applications.
- Assess information systems results by auditing their application and results.
- Attend initial meetings with potential member districts to assess services GUMSS can provide.
- Build effective relations with all internal and external stakeholders in order to be a strategic and resourceful partner.
- Maintain awareness of the latest technology, trends, and developments related to PowerSchool.
- Other duties as appropriately assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Genuine interest in serving the needs to students and the ability to operate within the philosophy of the program.
