Position Available: Mid-May through end of the school year      
 
Position: Long Term Substitute - Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher 
 
Qualifications: Bachelor’s  Degree; 045 Preferred
 
Reports To: Building Principal
 
Job Description: Regional School District 13 is seeking a Long Term Substitute Teacher for  High School Family and Consumer Sciences (anticipated) Mid -May 2024 - the end of the school year (last day of school is June 12th).
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  •  Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
  • Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
  • Guides the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons and communicates these objectives to students
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student groups involved
  • Motivates students effectively
  • Communicates effectively with students, staff and parents
  • Strives to implement the District’s mission, goals and objectives outlined in the District’s Strategic Plan
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Provides appropriate learning experiences for students with special needs
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
  • Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms
  • Plans and supervises meaningful assignments for teacher assistants and works with the administration to evaluate their job performance
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required
  • Follows the policies and procedures of the school district and state
  • Participates in professional (growth) development activities professional growth
  • Assumes responsibilities outside of the classroom as they relate to the school
  • Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility
  • Performs any other duties and responsibilities associated with the position as detailed in additional specific job descriptions or that the primary evaluator may request
  • Supports and promotes the District’s Core Ethical Values with students, colleagues and parents
