Job Description:
The Connecticut River Academy ( is a Sustainability Studies/Early College magnet high school, operated by Goodwin University on its river campus in East Hartford.  We are searching for an enthusiastic School Based Behavioral Intervention Coordinator for promoting positive behavioral growth for all students at the Connecticut River Academy by supporting administrators in providing appropriate behavioral interventions.   

 Specific Responsibilities:
Supervise and support scholars in maintaining positive behaviors in various school settings.
Manage the organization, communication, and supervision of detention and in-school suspension.
Assist in the management of behavior data through SWIS and PowerSchool.
Assist in investigation of behavioral incidents.
Assist in the implementation of behavior intervention plans.
Attend meetings at the school level on an as-needed basis to plan behavioral interventions for students.
Collaborate with building leaders to identify additional needs and support the development of interventions to address them.
Will monitor, manage, and report attendance data.
This person will develop and communicate action plans for attendance intervention, as well as collaborate with school personnel.
Perform other duties as assigned by the school Principal or assigned designee.

Desirable Experience and Training:
Bachelor’s degree required
Experience working with diverse high school students
Experience with de-escalation strategies
Experience counseling students on behavior management.
Excellent interpersonal skills – especially the ability to communicate and collaborate with both high school students and professionals
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent coordination and administrative abilities.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, PowerSchool, and SWIS.
Experience providing leadership and working with innovative public schools improvement efforts.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all organizational levels.
Ability to work an extended day and/or flexible schedule to meet the needs of the school.
