Stratford Public Schools seeks a dynamic Technology/PLTW Teacher at Wooster Middle School (grades 7-8). The purpose of the Technology/PLTW position is to provide additional opportunities for students to engage in STEM design thinking. The Technology/PLTW  Teacher will facilitate hands-on STEM learning based on STE Frameworks and supported by Project Lead the Way Curriculum. The successful candidate will work in a team environment to create deep, authentic, and inquiry-based learning experiences while integrating content for all students. We are seeking candidates who will encourage and foster a culture of mutual respect, effective communication, innovative thinking, and a willingness to rethink education. The primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
 
Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Teach, reinforce, remediate, and ensure mastery of academic content with individual students, small groups of students, and whole class(es) of students
  • Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards and CT frameworks
  • Holding high expectations for all students and serving as a facilitator of student learning
  • Organizing and using a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each student, individually and in group settings
  • Continuously assess student progress, providing students and parents with specific feedback, and using the results to adjust instruction as needed
  • Collaborate with colleagues to examine student data, plan curriculum, and ensure appropriate learning experiences for all students
  • Participate in curriculum and professional development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions
  • Attend PLTW professional development before facilitating each new PLTW unit
  • Demonstrate appropriate long and short-term preparation for classroom instruction using PLTW units and lessons as well as developing opportunities that extend the learning into the Wooster Middle/Stratford Public Schools community
  • Complete other duties and professional responsibilities determined by the administration
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university teacher education program.
  • Requires appropriate CSDE Certification and Endorsement
  • Relevant teaching experience. Middle level experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of relevant technology.
  • Experienced with (PLTW) Project Lead the Way Curriculum preferred.
  • Demonstrates skills and confidence around activity-, project-, and problem-based, design thinking learning.
This position will teach the Gateway To Technology curriculum which includes two foundation courses. (Design and Modeling and the Science of Technology) Candidate must be trained or eligible to attend a two week summer training as needed.

Salary: Pay will be commensurate with experience, and educational level, and in accordance with the Stratford Public Schools Collective Bargaining Agreement salary schedule.
