Job Description:
The math teacher’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

1. Plan engaging and rigorous instruction for seventh and eighth grade students.
2. Collaborate with teachers, math interventionists, and administration to review and implement math instruction. 
3. Use research based intervention practices to support and enrich classroom instruction.
4. Create instructional opportunities that support students' academic, social, and personal development.
5. Employ a variety of instructional strategies that enable students to think critically, solve problems and demonstrate learning skills.
6. Establish and maintain appropriate standards of student behavior and create a positive learning environment that reflects a commitment to students and their success.
7. Collect and analyze progress monitoring data to drive instruction.
8. Assist in administration of benchmark assessments.
9. Participate in professional development opportunities with peers, as available.
10. Other duties assigned by administration.

A successful candidate must possess: 

• A Bachelor’s degree in education 
• Certification by the Connecticut State Department of Education  (029) 7-12 Mathematics
• Effective communication skills-both written and spoken; strong interpersonal and collaborative skills; strong work ethic; flexibility; and compassion
