Spanish Teacher Secondary 2023-2024 SY
Position Types: Spanish Classroom Teacher
Location: Various - Placement determined upon hiring
Position Purpose:
The purpose of this posting is to create a pool of talented Spanish teachers  to be reviewed as potential candidates for full time Spanish positions during the 2023-2024 school year at one of our secondary schools.  Please apply to this position if you are an eager, committed educator who is looking to work in a diverse school setting with a social justice mindset.

Secondary Spanish teachers work under the general supervision of their school principal performing the essential performance responsibilities listed below.
 
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
The primary function of a CREC teacher is the planning for and effective delivery of instruction and assessment of student learning, in alignment with the Danielson Framework, with the incorporation of the CREC Core Values:  Expect Excellence, Demand Equity, Act with Courage, Embrace Collaboration.   In addition, a CREC teacher:
  • Develops and administers curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for their Spanish classes, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, maintain the target language in class and best utilize the available time for instruction. 
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed, knowledge of standards based grading preferred.

Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Familiar with the ACTFL World Readiness Standards
  • Outstanding personal/interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to keep concise records.
  • Sensitivity to the developmental stages of children and adolescents
Qualifications Profile:
  • Needs to have Spanish Secondary World Language endorsement 7-12, #023
  • Prefer minimum Advanced Mid on ACTFL proficiency exam
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience:
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
