Position: In-School Suspension Coordinator
General Description: The ISS Coordinator would be in charge of the program at Sterling and provide an in-school remedy for students in need of behavioral, social, emotional, and academic interventions.
Reports to: Sterling Building Administration
Terms of Service: 10 month position
Qualifications: Minimum high school diploma required. Associate’s degree and have prior experience working with students preferred.
Salary will commensurate with experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Note: It is impractical to attempt to list every duty and responsibility of an ISS Coordinator inasmuch both conditions and the human variables involved are both unpredictable and subject to change. These, then, are the major duties and responsibilities of the position, but there may be other tasks related to the position that are expected of the ISS Coordinator.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually by the supervisor.

- Report to duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Monitors daily attendance of assigned students and reports information to attendance secretary.
- Develops and coordinates the system for ensuring students have appropriate class work when assigned to ISS.
- Monitors and assists students with completion of assigned work.
- Returns completed student work to teachers in a timely manner.
- Provides and monitors appropriate breaks for students.
- Monitors students throughout the day to promote appropriate behaviors and ensure students adhere to school/program parameters.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Establishes and maintains an appropriate rapport with students.
- Reviews student progress and behavior as needed with administrators, teachers, and parents.
- Helps students develop positive attitudes toward accepting responsibility for actions and understanding appropriate school behavior.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the immediate supervisor/administrator.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually by the supervisor.
