Job Description:
Position Purpose

Philosophy
The Pre-Consumer Math Program is a highly specialized program designed to meet the needs of students, who through the PPT process, have been determined unable to access the core grade-level math curriculum successfully. The goal for this program is twofold: (1) to provide specialized instruction presenting concepts within a concrete context and (2) to provide specialized instruction to enable students to increase their ability to use math as a consumer and enter a vocation when they leave  Windsor Public Schools. The program is designed to be highly flexible and be implemented with the individual needs of each student at the forefront of decision making.

Selection of Students
The Pre-Consumer Math Program is designed to meet the needs of few students (less than 4% of the student population) who have historically been unable to access the core grade-level Math curriculum successfully due to a diagnosed disability. The selection criteria is based on the philosophy that students selected for Pre-Consumer Math have an identified impairment that significantly affects their memory and ability to reason abstractly. Selected students may or may not be in other specialized programs (Applied Behavior Analysis, Life Skills). Students selected for this program will be enrolled in Pre-Consumer Math in place of the grade level math class.
