POSITION:                                       Special Education Teacher

SCHOOL:                             
Middle School

GENERAL DUTIES:         
Seeking a dynamic candidate with a solid understanding of Life Skills programming. The Special Education Teacher is responsible for lesson planning and delivery in both general education and resource room settings as well as assessing students and developing IEPs. Participation in interdisciplinary team meetings, PPT’s, and parent communication is an essential component of this position. The special education teacher must collaborate regularly with general educators and be skilled in providing on-going training and supervision to paraprofessionals.
A life skills program is for students who, in addition to academics, need a focus on activities of daily living , social skills, and vocational training.  Students will be scheduled for instruction in the life skills program in addition to mainstream classes in middle school. Each student’s program will be individualized based on their IEP goals and objectives. 

QUALIFICATIONS:          
Comprehensive CT Certification in Special Education (165, 265 or 065)
Excellent teaming, collaboration and communication skills.
Ability to differentiate instruction and provide inclusive education.

As per NFEA Contract
