Immediate Hire Upon Qualified Applicant
The Assistant Superintendent collaborates with and supports the Superintendent of Schools for planning,  coordinating and directing all areas of the district. The Assistant Superintendent serves as the Business Manager for the district and facilitates the work of human resources and operations. The  position supports the educational vision, goals, and objectives of the school district in a way that benefits all stakeholders.
POSITION:Assistant Superintendent (POSTING 21-78)
  • At least 5 years successful experience as an administrator
  • Administrative certification (092); Business certification (085) preferred, not required   Doctorate Degree is preferred, not required
    • Evidence of application for 085 certification required within the first 30 days of hire
  • Deep expertise is school management and operations, specifically resources needed to support teaching and learning
  • Highly motivated, well-organized, excellent interpersonal skills
  • Track record in engaging with community stakeholders: Board of Education members, Board of  Finance members, parents, teachers, students, etc. 
  • Evidence of grant writing and development 
  • Requires advanced understanding of recent business management for PK-12 education, including  the principles and practices associated with budget accounting, preparation, development and  oversight. 
  • Ability to prepare detailed financial reports and deliver formal presentations to large and diverse  audiences 
  • Experience successfully managing multiple work streams and collaborative projects, including  school construction projects. 
  • Track record of contract negotiations
  • Experience in handling labor relations and recruitment 
  • Exceptional ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and  direct reports

Excerpt of Job Responsibilities
  • Supervises the financial affairs of the District, including all funds, accounting and reporting procedures while maintaining a system for monitoring the operating budget.
  • Supervise payroll, accounts payable and employee benefits.
  • Provides executive leadership in the long-range and daily planning, direction and control of all policies, plans and procedures related to the District’s business services.
  • Supervise and evaluate Administrators assigned by the Superintendent
  • Collaboratively supports the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Superintendent in the instructional leadership, curriculum development, and professional learning needs of the district
  • Prepares local, state, and federal financial and statistical reports
  • Directs and supervises the facilities budget with the Facilities Manager to manage plant operation and maintenance.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate procedures for recruitment, selection, assignment, and evaluation of personnel, including technical expertise to administrators
  • Leads bargaining negotiations and labor relations activities.
  • Acts as Superintendent designee when required.
