Summer Soundbridge Paras
Directly responsible to their supervising teacher.Assist the classroom teacher with any tasks related to the students' education and to the smooth running of the classroom. May work as a teacher aide, as a one-on-one paraprofessional, as an oral interpreter/C-printer, or as a paraprofessional who does any or all of those jobs at different times in the day or week.
Assist the teacher by helping individual students to attend, to understand material presented, to complete homework or seatwork.2. Check FM equipment, personal hearing aids, and the external components of cochlear implants.3. Under teacher guidance, prepare classroom materials for the teacher.4. Provide oral interpreting services.5. Provide C-print services.
6. Assist with non-instructional duties and class projects.
7. Provide feedback to the teacher regarding student progress.8. Act as a liaison between mainstream teacher(s) and the Soundbridge teacher for students who are mainstreamed.9. Keep behavioral records
10. With the support of teachers, insure an orderly and pleasant lunchtime for children.
11. Monitor recess to insure safe play.
12. Toilet students in a manner consistent with accepted procedures for each age level.
13. Assist students safely on or off school buses.
14. Escort students from school to school or room to room.
15. Transport students to and from various locations.
16. Drive or report to sites and deliver appropriate service (e.g. oral interpreting, C-print) to students at those sites.17. Perform other such duties, which may be assigned by the teacher.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Paraprofessionals are minimally expected to have 2 years of college or an A.A. degree (or equivalent) or to have passed the ParaPro test.
