Description:
High School science teacher for Amistad Academy High School: Amistad Academy is a high-performing urban middle school that is receiving local, state, and national attention for its success in closing the achievement gap. We opened a high school for the 2006-07 school year,and are currently serving 9th and 10th grade. We will double our frehsman class size and add 11th grade for the 2008-09 school year. Amistad's and Elm City College Prep 8th graders, who are 98% African-American or Latino and 87% free or reduced lunch, have Connecticut Mastery Test scores that rival the wealthiest districts in the state. Amistad Academy seeks a talented, experienced (two or more years, ideally urban experience) science teacher. A strong classroom manager and team player who believes urban students can soar to great heights will succeed in this role. Please send resume and cover letter.
